June 20, 2023, 6:30-8:30pm  |  Mastering Difficult Conversations  |  Zoom MANDATORY

Negotiating for resources. Giving feedback. Navigating conflict. Generating support for your idea. We face difficult conversations every day at work—handling them well is integral to our success. Based on the book Difficult Conversations: How to Discuss What Matters Most (Penguin 2000), we offer a framework for understanding why some of our most important conversations are so hard, examining the common mistakes we all make, and provide a step-by-step method for handling them with less anxiety and better results.

Through interactive exercises, relatable stories, and small and large group discussion, we introduce tools and frameworks to:

  • unpack the underlying structure of difficult conversations
  • increase understanding when parties see things differently
  • navigate strong emotions (yours and theirs)
  • speak up with clarity and impact

Are You Your Own CEO? The Importance of Personal Branding

We are CEOs of our companies: Me Inc. To be in business today, our most important job is to be head marketer for the brand called YOU. – Tom Peters

Whether you are 25 or 55, having a personal brand is necessary. Tom Peters was one of the first to explore the significance of personal branding in an article he wrote for Fast Company in the 1990s. Once primarily used by Silicon Valley CEOs, branding has evolved into a tool used by professionals, regardless of their industry or career level, to highlight and distinguish themselves within a highly competitive global and domestic business market.

This presentation will provide the seven steps needed to create a brand. A case study  on personal branding that went awry will be featured. This session will be led by Jennefer Witter, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of The Boreland Group Inc.
